Emily + John were married on a gorgeous November day in Stevens Point. I met the bride at her family home where she was getting ready surrounded by her family and bridesmaids. Emily + John paid tribute to their families and the strong tradition of marriages on their wedding day. Emily wore her grandmother’s wedding dress, which fit her perfectly and was a touching remembrance of her grandmother. The couple also took photographs at the family quarry, where Emily’s parents also were photographed on their wedding day. Emily, who is a costume designer, created and curated thoughtful details into her and John’s wedding day. From the gloves that she had collected for her ladies to wear, to the elegant capes that she made for them, everything was peppered with beautiful bespoke details. They were married at my favorite little white church in the woods in Custer, Wisconsin. Following a stop back at the family home for pizza and photos and a stop for the couple at the quarry and the family deer farm, Emily and John danced and dined the night away at Sentry World in a dress the Emily made especially for her wedding and swing dancing. I am so glad that I was able to meet this family (I photographed Emily’s sister’s wedding earlier in the summer) and create photographs that will hopefully be displayed at their children and grandchildren’s weddings as well. It is so special to be a small part in a beautiful and strong tradition of marriage.
