Happy 2019 everyone! I am excited to announce that I am giving away a FREE Engagement Session! This is the sixth year that I am doing this and it always so fun to do. 3. Share away! On Facebook on Twitter…. over a cup of coffee…. however! If you aren’t engaged, but know someone who is…. spread the word!

We just got engaged on January 15th, and are planning to get married May of 2020. My fiancé proposed at Wyalusing State Park, overlooking the Mississippi River. I knew he would be proposing in the near future, but was not expecting it at all at the time. It was the best surprise at a truly beautiful location, and the best start to the new year! Thank you for the chance at this amazing giveaway!ReplyCancel

When Jessica contacted me in May about her late August wedding, I right away knew it was a wedding I would love to be able to photograph. Her and her fiance, Matt, were planning a small backyard wedding at their hobby farm in Iola. When Jessica described the property to me you could tell how much it meant to them. They didn’t live there, but had been renovating it and renting it out. I have a special place in my heart for pre-1900 little white farmhouses, having lived in one for three years 🙂 When I arrived at the farm on their wedding Monday (What a fantastic idea for those with family nearby!) I immediately felt relaxed and comfortable … there was something about the property which just had a calming affect. They chose to do their first look on the front porch and from there we explored their favorite spots around property. From the field overlooking the lake and the dock (that they built!) to a few outbuildings, everything was meticulously taken care of. Their wedding day details also had a lot of love and thought into them as well. The barn was decorated with fresh flowers, Matt had made the main course, they had some Leinenkugels out for their guests (they met while giving tours at the Leinie Lodge!) and their ceremony was sweet and thoughtful. The thing about small weddings is that each guest was a family member or dear friend and they were able to sit and talk, eat, and laugh with the people that they loved. Right before I left, we took a few more photos as the sun shown through the Tamaracks across the lake. I left with a plateful of food and a few slices of cheesecake and felt inspired and grateful for having been able to photograph the perfect Monday wedding 🙂

On a chilly fall day in Eau Claire, Jenna + Jordan were married! They didn’t mind the cold for their wedding, their January engagement session was WAY colder 🙂 They were prepared and Jenna had mittens (that she made!) and wraps for her bridesmaids, blankets for their guests, warm hearts and willing family and friends to hold their ceremony as planned outside at the Florian Gardens. The gardens looked beautiful in late fall and we headed across the parking lot to the pond near Lowes Creek for a some more rustic photos as well. Their wedding was full of joy, happy tears, family, friends and an awesome dance floor. What all wedding days should be made of 🙂

On a perfect Northwoods Wisconsin fall day, Grace + Joe were married! It was warm and sunny with a tinge of crisp in the air and the lakes were blue and calm. I met the ladies at Wild Eagle Lodge for getting ready and pictures on the lake. From there, we headed to Three Lakes, for their ceremony at the Catholic Church. The officiant gave a funny and personal sermon, Joe was a former student of his, and even featured one of their photos from their engagement session last fall 🙂 They exchanged sweet views, tied the knot (literally and figuratively) and we headed out to enjoy the day. We took photos at Joe’s family’s lake house in the wild and back at the lodge. They planned their wedding up north as a destination for their guests from central Wisconsin and Chicagoland. Wild Eagle Lodge is the prefect spot for that (I can attest, I spent a week up there with my family after our wedding :)) and the people I met all agreed. They danced, dined, played bean bags and yard games and enjoyed celebrating their first day as a married couple!

Brooke + Tyler were married the last week of 2018 at Rollins Mansion in Des Moines. They celebrate the first day of their marriage on the anniversary of Brooke’s parent’s wedding and her aunt’s anniversary as well. What a great way to start your marriage by celebrating the legacy of marriage in your family. I love that 🙂 These two are (big:)) Harry Potter fans, so the old English style mansion was the perfect setting for their wedding The dusting of snow that fell throughout the day, only added to the romantic, cozy feel of their beautiful celebration. I loved getting to know them during the wedding planning process. These two are from Charles City (our hometown) so it was fun to photograph a wedding with so many familiar faces.
