The Apostle Islands in Lake Superior are my most favorite place in Wisconsin. So I was beyond excited when Rebekah asked me to photograph her + Chris’s Madeline Island wedding this July. Rebekah and her family have been traveling up north since forever to enjoy summers on Madeline Island. So, along with family and friends, Rebekah + Chris traveled from Iowa by car and one ferry ride to Madeline Island to celebrate their wedding day along the shores of Lake Superior. It was so fun to pull onto the island and see cars with Floyd County (the county in which Rebekah and I grew up) license plates 🙂
As anyone who has spent time on Lake Superior knows, the weather can change rather quickly. But despite an impending rain storm and a windy day, Rebekah + Chris held an intimate lakeside ceremony outside. Their ceremony joined them not only has husband + wife, but also joined them as a family with Logan and Belle, Chris’s children. One of the readings at the ceremony was of the book, A Lovely Love Story, which when Chris read for Belle years earlier she asked if it was about him +Rebekah. So it was only fitting that it was read at their wedding. After the ceremony on the shore, the stepped into the Inn on Madeline Island to enjoy lunch, drinks, cake, conversation, and to warm up by the fire. Once the weather cleared we headed out to a dock for photos while the guests relaxed and enjoyed lawn games, including one wild game of giant jenga 🙂 It was pretty much the perfect wedding and the perfect setting for their day. Their wedding truly was a celebration of love.
Congratulations Rebekah + Chis! I hope you enjoy many more wonderful memories along the shores of Lake Superior! Thank you for having me be part of your wedding day! Happy married life!
