Johanna + Shannon :: Waupaca, Wisconsin Wedding Photography

The average length of an engagement is 12-14 months. But you can get engaged and plan a perfect wedding in just a few months too! Check out this beautiful summer backyard wedding that Johanna + Shannon planned. It was relaxed and casual and included a few of their favorite things, family, the outdoors, beer, good food … and each other. Johanna, who was living in California at the time, and Shannon, who was living in Alberta, Canada, decided that Shannon’s grandparent’s home, on the banks of the Crystal River near Waupaca, was the perfect location for their wedding. So their families converged from all over Wisconsin to Texas, Colorado and beyond (even South America!) to celebrate vacation and celebrate for a week in Wisconsin. Their wedding was truly a family affair and everyone pitched in to help. From the location and the tent that Johanna’s parents drove up  from Texas to Johanna and Shannon’s family heirloom rings, everyone has a special part to play in their day. Johanna + Shannon brewed wedding beer, designed the table of elements beer glasses, made the cake and cooked the food for their fun backyard party.  The couple planted a tree for the property, which already has a tree for each grandchild, and commemorated their marriage adventure with a quick kayak through the backyard rapids in the Crystal River. This was such a fun celebration of these two and I am so happy that I got to be a part of their day!
