Kate + Ryan :: Charles City, Iowa Wedding Photography

Kate + Ryan were married on one of those perfect Iowa summer days where the grass is lush green and the sunsets are golden. There is something about Iowa summers that makes weddings all the more beautiful… although Kate + Ryan’s wedding would have been beautiful no matter what 🙂  Kate + Ryan grew up in neighboring Iowa towns about 20 miles apart, but it took a trip to California for Kate and a career for Ryan in California for them to meet.  They were married at Kate’s childhood home during an intimate wedding ceremony on the banks of the Cedar River in Charles City. Following the gorgeous ceremony the celebrated with dinner and then a quick trip across the field to Cedar Ridge Golf Course where they celebrated the night with music and dancing. There was even a special appearance by Ryan on the drums during the reception at which is band, Break Even, played. The evening ended with a surprise lantern send-off.

I was so looking forward to photographing this wedding, I had a feeling that it would be gorgeous. And it was! From all the details you could plan, like the flowers, the handmade quilts and Kate’s ombre dress, to all things you couldn’t plan, like the weather and  the sunset, to even the surprises, their wedding day all fell into place perfectly. But what made the wedding the most gorgeous were how happy and in love Kate + Ryan are. Ryan’s sweet reaction at seeing Kate for the first time and their smiles throughout the day were the most beautiful part of the whole day.
