Kari + JJ :: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Anniversary Session » Marshfield and Wisconsin Wedding Photography

I met Kari + JJ on an early November day at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center in Milwaukee for an anniversary session. It was one of those November days that still felt like mid-October and the leaves were still on the trees. Kari + JJ’s celebrated their anniversary in October and wanted photographs of them in their season of marriage. We went to the Nature Center because they enjoy spending time together there on the trails and near the lake. It was so much fun to explore the grounds with these two and we were lucky to finish the session with an amazing sunset. After Kari + JJ’s session they headed home to host dinner at home for friends. And I headed back up North feeling energized after such a beautiful session and a much needed break from new mom life.

I love the idea of anniversary sessions. After your wedding, a lot of people don’t get their photos taken again until they have babies, and then, it is mostly of the baby 🙂 But it so so important to me to celebrate marriage where you are now. Marriage is a journey and along the way there might be hiccups or bumps. And there might be babies, and there might be dogs or cats. And there might be moves and new jobs. But it is important to celebrate the “right now” of life rather than waiting for everything to be perfect or or for that big milestone. I am so glad that Dan and I had four years to hang out together and travel, bike and canoe, or spend hours around the campfire or watching 30 Rock on the couch before our Autumn arrived. And I am happy that we have photos of just us to mark that season of our life.

And along with engagement, wedding, anniversary, maternity, and now baby photos, we have beautiful reminders of our journey together. Because the journey has been sweet and every day and moment is worth celebrating.
