I met Lucy and Ted last September for their Green Bay engagement session. The couple, who currently live in Pittsburg, came back last fall to do planning for their Door County wedding, which is this Saturday! It ended up being a gorgeous day and a perfect setting. These two were so much fun to spend the evening with and explore the beautiful grounds. They were also super-sweet and accommodating as I was about 38 weeks pregnant last year. I’m looking forward to spending another day with them and celebrating their wedding!

Aaron + Alyssa were married at Dixon’s Orchard, an adorable new venue near Cadott. While the ladies were getting ready in the house and the men were getting ready in the Groom’s Shack, the skies absolutely let loose, and it just poured! The owners of the orchard, Jim and Becky, were incredibly helpful and swiftly made the changes and prepped the venue to move the wedding inside. Alyssa + Aaron’s ceremony was inside, but between the rain outside, the family, friends and flowers inside, their ceremony was cozy and beautiful. After they exchanged vows, the rain cleared up and we were able to explore the beautiful grounds for photos. And, with the incredible luck of timing, the rain started again at dinner and finished just in-time for sunset. Which was a brilliant way to end the evening. It was an amazing day despite the rain …  and the most important thing happened, Aaron and Alyssa became husband and wife!

There is something magical about getting married in the woods. Kate + Mike were married under a huge oak at the Urban Ecology Center in Milwaukee. It is a perfect little forest gem in the city and was one of my favorite wedding venues ever. The shade kept the July heat at bay and there were surprisingly minimal bugs! Not only is the  center is completely encompassed within nature in the city, there is a cool restored building for the party and tons of little areas for portraits around the grounds. Kate and Mike love to travel and their love story definitely shows that. They were engaged in Iceland, lived in Chicago, were married in Milwaukee, and moved to San Diego shortly after their wedding. Their wedding day was beautiful mix of classy and casual and the day was genuine to Kate + Mike. They were such a fun and gracious couple and  I’m so glad to have been a little part of their beautiful love story!

Breanna + Brett’s wedding was one of the sweetest weddings I have ever photographed. The morning was filled with excited laughter and happy giggles and the wedding ceremony with filled with their family and their closest friends. Breanna + Brett were married on Breanna’s grandparent’s 56th anniversary at their home in the country. Not only at their home, but in the church that her grandfather built. In the small town that her grandfather recreated around the tiny church. I could have spent hours exploring each building on the property and taking photos with them. The couple also included their dog, Rosie, who had a coordinating purple dress and was a very well-behaved best dog 🙂

This wedding was the perfect wedding to come back to after having Baby Autumn. Having a new baby makes me think about the legacy that we create for our children and how that starts on our wedding day. These pictures not only tell the story of Brett + Breanna’s wedding day, but also continues the story of her grandparent’s wedding day. It is such an honor for me to tell the story of a couple’s wedding day. And to be part of their history as they start creating their family that each marriage builds. Breanna is a writer, and her own words about her wedding day are much more eloquent than mine. You can read more about their wedding featured here on Country Life.
