Recently got engaged December 22 on a snowmobile trip. My grandmother passed away the day after so as a tribute we are having our 50s themed wedding at the Rothschild Pavilion, as her family ran it in the 40-50s when it was a roller rink, even considered doing a 50s themed engagement shoot 🙂ReplyCancel

I’m not enaged, but my sister is. With her wedding coming up in June, and being a dedicated teacher/mother, she barely has time for herself let alone to enter into something like this. She spends hours upon hours in her classroom putting her students first as if they were her own children. He future hubs proposed by putting the ring in a bowl of her ice cream. Praise Jesus it ended better then it could have! They have been together 8 years. This man has changed my sister. Not in a bad way, but in the way true love should change a person. She laughs louder, smiles wider, and her beautiful brown eyes shine a little brighter. It’s the kind of love a sister prays her bestfriend for life finds.ReplyCancel

My fiance and I just got engaged over Christmas. He proposed to me on Christmas morning, and I totally did not expect it! People had been asking me since summer time when he was going to propose, and then this Christmas, I ended up getting the best Christmas gift I’ve ever received! Our wedding will be this August. It may seem soon to some, but for us, it isn’t too soon at all. We know we are meant to be.ReplyCancel

Who needs fall colors when you have winter’s first snow? Grace + Joe’s foggy, snowy and romantic engagement session took place in Three Lakes, where Joe’s family has a cabin. Every pine tree was outlined in a picturesque dusting of snow. Their lake, had a light fog, which added an atmospheric beauty to the day. When in Wisconsin, you can never count on the weather to be a sure thing, but I am so glad it snowed and was such a beautiful day for this session! We explored the county roads around the cabin and Grace + Joe were game for jumping out for photos in settings across the county. Hopefully we will get those brilliant gold colors that they wanted for their fall 2018 wedding!

A pretty great Sunday to me is going on a hike and exploring. And an even better Sunday is going on a hike and exploring AND photographing a sweet couple’s engagement photos! I met Katie + Aevyrie at Parfey’s Glen near Devil’s Lake for their summer engagement session. I had never been there, but had been to Devil’s Lake a ton of times for photography sessions, camping and rock climbing. We hiked down (up?) the glen and picked our way past beautiful rock walls taking pictures along the way. It was the perfect June day to be outside and be by the water. From there we chased the sunset to Devil’s Lake and then to the perfect view of the hills on the Ice Age Trail. I am looking forward to their wedding this September!

In August, Mackenzie + Elliott were married at the beautiful Rondele Ranch in Harshaw, Wisconsin. This unique, up-north location is a newer venue in Wisconsin and it has all the perks of outdoors and indoor locations. By perks I mean, a beautiful cabin and event space, an amazing house, a rustic event space, a chapel, a gazebo, a pond … the list goes on! This all worked out perfectly well when a few sprinkles fell right before Mackenzie walked down the aisle. The rain held off until we were just finished with wedding photos. Luckily there was a covered space for guests and the wedding party to scoot in to stay dry.  After the rain stopped we took a few more photos around the grounds. And in the way that perfect wedding days go, there was a glorious late summer sunset for Elliott to twirl Mackenzie in :). Mackenzie + Elliott were high school sweethearts and met their freshman year at Kimberly High. From one of the speeches at their wedding, I learned that Elliott would ride his moped to MacKenzie’s house 🙂 This wedding was such a joyful celebration of these two and the start of their marriage. They were so sweet and funny and wonderful to photograph! Which would have made it a perfect wedding day no matter what the weather was like!

From across the Atlantic Ocean, Allyson + Daniel planned a fun, simple and lovely backyard wedding. The two, who met and live in Germany, planned a wedding in Allyson’s hometown of Marshfield, Wisconsin. Daniel’s family came in from California, and friends flew in from Germany, to help the couple celebrate. They had friends and family help them with the event. From the backyard, (her brother’s) to make-up, music, officiants and details, everyone had a bit of a hand in their day. Their nieces and nephews even planned a little shower of petals for a photo op! I love that these two set aside some time to head to down the block for some gorgeous sunset photos. I normally drive right by where their wedding was on the way to my in-laws, so I had bee scoping out the location and the light. And man, we lucked out with a beautiful July sunset! After their wedding, they headed to California to relax before flying back to Germany. I loved that these two planned a wedding that was truly about them and their lives and the people that are important to them. It is so easy to get caught-up in wedding planning and details, details, details. But these two had the perfect day that spoke to who they are. I am so glad that I was able to be part of it!
