That’s a Wrap!

I can’t believe it is already 2017! But we say that every year, don’t we? 🙂 2016 was a year for the record books in our family with Baby Autumn making her arrival a week late on October 15.

This wedding season was extra special too. Not only did I photograph 22 weddings and 22 lovely couples, but for the whole wedding season I was pregnant! Wait, scratch that. For the whole wedding season until the last two weddings I was pregnant! I even was able to photograph a wedding on my due date! A little crazy, I know. I am so thankful that I felt well had a healthy pregnancy. Working throughout my pregnancy felt amazing and motivated me to continue to be healthy and active. I loved being able to work and grow our little baby.

And at every wedding I thought about my future baby and what moments I would want from his or her wedding day. I teared up a little more as I watched the parents watch their children, and once we had our baby girl, I teared up a lot more at those last two weddings 🙂 I think Baby Autumn loves music so much from partying late on the dance floor every Saturday. I haven’t played the Cupid Shuffle for her yet, but I am sure she will remember it and starting dancing around like she used to 🙂

I am incredibly grateful to all the couples who I worked. Their kind words and gestures and thoughtful baby gifts, made me smile and love every minute of my job. I am so glad they supported and trusted me and I was able to photograph their weddings while being very pregnant! I am also lucky to have worked with so many talented and sweet photographers who helped me on wedding days and allowed me to take a few more breaks throughout the day. Thanks to Andi, Kelly, Jen, Kelley, Tina, and Jenna!

I also was able to photograph so many families, newborns and senior sessions this year as well. I love photographing a family as they grow and every session meant a little more as we grew our family too.

Beyond work, Dan and I were able enjoy our winter off season together. We went to Mexico last January, and were able to head to the North Shore of Minnesota and ski once with family and ice climb once with friends. Our winter was filled with biking and skiing and once I had to cut down on skiing, I finally finished one of my quilts! We saw family a lot this summer with a wedding in Nashville, family fun in Iowa on the Fourth of July, and a trip to Cannon Beach in Oregon. Once September started, I cozied up at home and started getting ready for Autumn’s arrival. Family and friends hosted showers for us and we felt the love as we slowed down and I wrapped up sessions. We finished up the year with a few trips to Iowa and lots of baby cuddles.

When I look back on the year, I feel blessed with all the good that happened and so grateful that I get to do what I love. So many thanks to the people who allow me to photograph them and their families, children, weddings and all their big moments and milestones. With all that, I hope everyone has a happy and healthy New Year!

And I almost forgot to add a photo of our sweet kitty, Koernigin! We got her on Christmas Eve and enjoyed her presence around the farm all year 🙂
