FAQ

Wedding Photography

How long do you typically stay at a wedding?

Most couples choose 8-9 hours of wedding day coverage. I do offer a 6 hour collection, which is perfect for weddings later in the day or at one location. If you want fewer hours, you can customize a package to fit your needs. Couples usually have me start at the end of getting ready. That way I have time to photograph you and your bridesmaids and family and the details of your dress and accessories. I normally stay through the spotlight dances. I work with you to develop a timeline to make sure everything that you want is photographed.

Do you do recommend an engagement session?

Engagement sessions are really fun and a great way to get to know each other before the wedding day. Most people haven’t been photographed professionally since … maybe high school! It is a good opportunity to become comfortable in front of a camera.

Do you bring a second photographer?

There is an option for a second photographer at your wedding, but normally I photograph a wedding day on my own.

How long after our wedding will our photos be ready?

Depending on the season, your wedding photos will be online 5-7 weeks and at your doorstep shortly after.

Do you travel?

Yes! I love to travel and check out new wedding venues. Right now, I mostly travel around Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota, but I would love to travel for a destination wedding!

Do you offer albums?

Albums are the perfect way to preserve  and share your wedding day. I offer these beautiful heirloom albums: https://lauraschmittphotography.com/products-heirloom-albums/ The album design process is collaborative and all online.

Portrait Sessions

Do all sessions include the print rights?

All sessions include the print rights to the high resolution images. Your session will be delivered to you on an online gallery as well as a USB drive.

When should I schedule my photo session?

If you are interested in booking a newborn session, it is best to let me know the due date a few months in advance.  Once your baby is born, just email me and we can find a date shortly after! I like to photograph newborns within about 12 days of their birth. For family and senior sessions, the earlier you get something on the calendar the better! Summer weekends get very busy. For August, September and early October sessions, I recommend booking about 6-8 weeks in advance.

Where are photo sessions held?

I love to take photos in natural light and in a setting that you feel most comfortable in. Whether it is taking newborn pictures in your freshly decorated nursery, family pictures in your backyard, or senior pictures on the baseball field, I love to go on-location and where you can be yourself and have fun.

How long after the session will I receive my photos?

It depends on the season, but family and newborns take about 2-4 weeks and seniors usually take around 4 weeks.

Do you offer products with your sessions?

Yes! I offer mini accordion books, senior books and of course prints and canvases. If there is something in particular that you are looking for, I most likely can make it happen!
