I know it is April 1st this weekend, but better late than never right? I started this blog post in December …. But life with a toddler happens 🙂

Whew! 2017 was quite a year! A few Laura Schmitt Photography highlights:

I photographed 19 beautiful weddings!

I met lots of 2018 couples for their engagement sessions!

I also got to photograph fun seniors, sweet new babies and awesome families. Since have a baby, newborn and family sessions have taken on a whole new meaning for me. I love creating photographs with families that capture a slice of life.

2017 was a big year for me personally as well!

In March we left our beloved farm and woods and moved back to Marshfield. While it was hard to leave the country, it was the best move for us as a family. It is nice to be closer to family, friends, work and the grocery store. We also moved into a cute house that we love. We enjoy going for walks around the neighborhood and bike rides around town.

Dan and I celebrated 5 years of marriage. We went up north for a few days to canoe and bike and enjoy our first anniversary as a family of three!

Autumn turned one in October!

At the time of their wedding, Brittany was living in Missouri and Nathan was living in Minnesota, so planning a wedding while they lived in different states was tough. But you wouldn’t have known that when attending their wedding. I met Brittany and her family (who all came from California) at a beautiful cabin near Waupaca. Brittany got ready with her mom and sisters and then we headed to Nathan’s family’s land and cabin. Through the field, over a bridge, past the cabin through another field and next to the pine grove, these two met before their wedding day. I met Nathan in the pines where he was finishing tying the ribbon to Brittany’s bouquet. She chose Nathan’s boutineer and he chose her flowers, which was a sweet touch. After exploring the land taking pictures, these two took a moment together in the pines before becoming husband and wife. It was a beautiful, heart-felt wedding, with a handfasting ceremony. Their family members contributed a rope or ribbon and a wish for their marriage while their rings were warmed and passed through their group of guests. The two took inspiration from their wedding day from Lord of the Rings. After the ceremony and hugs were exchanged, Brittany + Nathan and their guests enjoyed the warm September day by taking rides around the property on the Gator, playing lawn games, and enjoying a pig roast. Fireworks and a roaring bonfire were the perfect way to end this beautiful, intimate wedding day. Congrats to Brittany + Nathan (who now live in the same state, Maine :)) and thank you for having me be part of your wedding day!

On a perfect October day, Christi + Jared were married! This October was a bit sketchy with the weather, but we totally lucked out on October 21st! The leaves were in full color and it was warm! I met this fun-loving couple earlier in the year for their March engagement session, so I knew it would be a great wedding day 🙂 We started the day in Neenah where the guys and girls were getting ready at the church. After their ceremony and family pictures, we started the party and photos at Doty Park. We were joined by special guests, Meeka and Rajah, their Great Pyrenees puppies. After the dogs were done, we took photos around the park and headed to a few bars before continuing the party at the reception in Oshkosh. Congrats you two, I hope the first months of marriage have been amazing!
